Jeff
Hane has been practicing personal injury
and general litigation since 1993. Jeff has
handled cases where his clients recovered
sums in excess of six figures, including
one case just under $500,000. He has also
served as co-counsel in cases where our clients
recovered verdicts near $1 million.
Jeff is also the law firm’s primary
attorney for water law, adoption matters,
construction law, Social Security disability,
and workers compensation. In addition,
Jeff serves as Assistant County Attorney
for Kittson
County. Jeff became a shareholder of the
firm in 1998.
Adoption law comes naturally to Jeff–he
and his wife are adoptive parents, having
adopted their children from China in two
separate adoptions. Having gone through two
adoptions, he has first-hand knowledge of
the process, and prospective adoptive parents
now seek him out–Jeff’s one
of the busiest adoption attorneys in the
region.
Likewise, construction law comes naturally
to Jeff. Jeff worked his way through college
doing residential construction and framing,
and two of his brothers still work full
time as home builders.
Consequently, contractors
and homeowners appreciate the fact that
Jeff understands the construction process
(including
finance), construction contracts and timetables,
permits & inspections, and construction
regulations and lien laws.
Jeff also keeps busy in the community, serving
as the Advancement Committee Chair for the
local boy scout troop and as the President
of the local Salvation Army Service Unit.
He served as Scoutmaster for Hallock Troop
76 from 1994 through 1998. One of his favorite
scouting activities was building and using
snow caves, and from time to time he still
teaches winter camping techniques and snow
survival.
In his spare time, Jeff is an avid do-it-yourself-er.
For instance, he and his wife just remodeled
their bath, including the framing, plumbing,
wiring, and tile work. When not working on
his house, Jeff loves to help friends and
family on construction, remodeling, and salvage
projects.
Jeff was awarded both The Order of the Coif
and The Order of Barristers in 1993.
